Pemphigus erythematosus: apropos a case

Pemphigus erythematosus or Senear–Usher syndrome is a blistering disease of immunological origin characterized histologically by the presence of intraepidermal blisters, and clinically by blistering erythematous lesions which evolve toward denuded areas, with slightly adherent crusts and greasy flaking, mainly located in exposed and seborrheic areas. Sufferers are generally people aged over 50 years. A case is presented of a female 33-year-old patient who attended consultation with blister-like skin lesions of approximately two years' evolution. The patient required admission to the Dermatology service. Skin biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of pemphigus erythematosus and treatment was started, obtaining a good clinical evolution. The case is considered to be interesting because in our environment pemphigus erythematosus is an infrequent dermatosis whose incidence has gradually increased, mainly in association with photodamage, and therefore it is necessary to ensure its early identification, diagnosis and treatment.
