Bullous Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract

Cutaneous lupus erythematosus is a disease of unknown cause with solar influence, which affects skin and mucous membranes, of chronic evolution, characterized by lesions in areas exposed to sunlight. We present the case of a 50-year-old patient from Guantánamo, with a history of hypothyroidism since 2010. Around 2015, she began with lesions on the scalp, ears, anterior chest, back, and lower limbs, of blisters, which left a denuded area that did not resolve with the indicated medical treatment. Two samples are taken for biopsy. Both report chronic dermatitis. She is referred to our center with a new biopsy and immunofluorescence that confirm the diagnosis of bullous lupus erythematosus. Medical indications are fulfilled. The patient was discharged improved with follow-up by outpatient consultation.
