Model of Professionalization of the Dermatologist in the Care of the Pediatric Patient
Abstract
Introduction: Modeling as a process constitutes a special form of mediation, which ensures the harmonious unity between the stages of the model. During this process, it is essential to take into account the principles of modeling, the similarities of the model to the original, its basis in scientific laws, the relationships between its components, and the understanding of its simplicity in its entirety and in its parts, as well as its affordability.
Objective: To explain the foundations and characteristics of the professionalization model of the dermatologist in the care of the pediatric patient.
Method: A review of the available literature was carried out in PubMed, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Descriptors such as professionalization, model and pediatric dermatology were used. Fifty-eight articles in Spanish and English were consulted, of which 21 were selected that were related to the topic and had been published less than 5 years prior.
Development: The proposed model is based on a set of foundations such as philosophical, sociological, psychological, pedagogical and medical education principles. Its characteristics include being contextualized, participatory, flexible, systemic, systematic, humanistic, transformative, objective and formative.
Conclusions: The professionalization model for dermatologists in pediatric patient care allows for the improvement of this specialist's performance in the care of children and adolescents.
