Leprosy Reactions and disabilities Due to Leprosy in Chambas Municipakity, Ciego de Ávila Province

Introduction: Leprosy is a very old disease. The early diagnosis made in the first year of the disease is of vital importance for its control, beacuse it cures the patient, interrupts transmission and prevents disabilities.
Objective: To characterize leprosy reactions and leprosy disabilities in Chambas municipality.
Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, case series study was conducted in the period from January 2010 to June 2021. The universe was formed by 17 diagnosed patients. Descriptive statistics were used and absolute and relative frequencies (perentages) were used as a summary measure of the processed information.
Results: Between the years 2010 and 2012, the highest number of diagnoses was made, of which 20% were late. 88.2% were early diagnoses; 64.7% of patients did not develop leprosy reactions, 29.4% had reversal reaction at some point in their evolution, and only 5.9% were complicated by a leprosy eythema. 82.3% of the cases had no disability.
Conclusions: Early diagnosis of cases predominate. The majority of patients had no leprosy reactions or diabilities.
