Abstract

Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease with various clinical forms, ranging from linear scleroderma or morphea to progressive systemic sclerosis. The linear form is infrequent in the scalp and its definitive diagnosis is usually very complex. The case is presented of a 19-year-old female patient, of white skin color, evaluated at the provincial dermatology service in February 2020, with a linear alopecic area on the scalp of two-year evolution; despite the received treatments, she did not show clinical improvement. A skin biopsy was performed, with a presumptive diagnosis of linear scleroderma, which was confirmed. The case was discussed with the rheumatology specialty and medical treatment was started, with remarkable improvement of the lesions. Linear scleroderma is more frequent at pediatric age and of low incidence in young adults. Its positive diagnosis is important because of its infrequent presentation and possible systemic involvement.
